I know I don’t want to think about my kids going back to school yet, but I hate the last minute rush to get school supplies so I am beginning to look for good deals now.  With my big family, I have to get great deals on the supplies they need for school or it can easily cost a fortune.

I have been professionally blogging about back to school sales for 5 years and I have learned a lot. I want to share these things with you.

tips to save on school supplies

Tips I have learned to save on school supplies:

  • Buying in bulk is a great way to get good deals on school supplies. Supplies that are used in many grades like pens, pencils, highlighters, erasers, dry erase markers and more are perfect to buy for less by buying in bulk.
  • Look for the loss leaders in stores.  Around this time of year, a lot of stores offer school supplies for extremely low prices or even free.  Taking advantage of these is a great way to save money on supplies for school.
  • Prices typically get lower the closer it gets to school starting.  This is one of the few times that waiting until the last minute may pay off.  Prices are lower and you can save money by waiting but there are many downsides to waiting.  Stressed out crowds of parents searching for school supplies makes for busy stores and empty shelves.
  • You can get great deals online!  Shopping online is a good way to get great deals on school supplies without overspending or facing busy crowds.  I love to shop for school supplies on Amazon and I will let you know about the deals I find there.
